NERACA.CO.ID - Supporting the government in reducing stunting or malnutrition rates, PT Bank Neo Commerce Tbk (BNC) is collaborating with the Tambora sub-district in West Jakarta to actively participate in handling stunting eradication by providing healthy and nutritious food to dozens of toddlers in the Tambora sub-district area, West Jakarta.
Acting President Director of Bank Neo Commerce, Aditya Windarwo, in his press release in Jakarta yesterday, said that as a bank that cares about environmental and public health issues, BNC is directly involved in assisting the local government in several of its priority programs, namely handling stunting in toddlers and also providing communal septic tanks in densely populated areas. “BNC is grateful for the collaboration established with Tambora sub-district which has opened up opportunities for BNC to contribute by carrying out social and environmental responsibility in the Tambora sub-district area,” he said.
He stated that environmental and health issues are closely related to people’s lives. “As a bank with digital services that focused on providing inclusive and profitable financial services to the community, we feel the need to participate in sustainable economic development to improve the quality of life and the environment, which benefits both BNC and society at large,” Aditya said.
Meanwhile, Tambora Sub-district Head, Achmad Bayhaki, stated that Tambora is a densely populated area where residents are increasingly concerned about the importance of maintaining health and the environment in their area. The sub-district team also regularly creates programs that benefit the community, including addressing stunting in toddlers by providing nutritious meals once a week. The sub-district has also launched a pilot project to build a communal septic tank, the benefits of which are already being felt by the Tambora community.
“Our efforts will be even more intensive and extensive with assistance from Bank Neo Commerce. Through BNC’s CSR program, dozens of toddlers still categorized as stunted and malnourished will receive healthy, nutritious lunches every day, five days a week for two months. Furthermore, BNC also donated a communal septic tank to raise public awareness of waste management and create a healthy environment,” said Bayhaki.
For your information, in addition to stunting, environmental aspects are also receiving serious attention from the BNC. Data shows that many densely populated areas in Jakarta still lack septic tanks. This, of course, poses serious potential environmental pollution and public health risks. The BNC together with the Tambora sub-district in West Jakarta, one of the densely populated sub-districts in Jakarta, is actively working to address this issue and contributing by providing communal septic tanks for the community in Tambora sub-district, West Jakarta.
BNC’s CSR activities in the Tambora sub-district, West Jakarta, began in early November 2023. Handling stunting is also one of the Ministry of Health’s main programs in 2023. According to data, in DKI Jakarta, there are 36,000 children with nutritional problems and are vulnerable to stunting, of which 21,000 are toddlers. Stunting in children is the result of nutritional deficiencies during the first thousand days of life. This causes impaired physical development and growth in children due to malnutrition. If not intervened early, it will continue into adulthood, so this stunting problem requires serious attention.
