Bank Neo Commerce Reveals 5 Guidelines for Safe Digital Transactions

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Neo Commerce Tbk (BNC) has revealed five guidelines or precautionary steps customers can take when conducting digital transactions safely to avoid the risk of crime in the financial sector.

President Director PT Bank Neo Commerce Tbk, Eri Budiono, said the company recognized its responsibility to educate the public about digital banking. Therefore, BNC is committed to continuing to provide financial literacy to the public.

“Our hope is, of course, that the public will increasingly understand, comprehend, and apply how to conduct digital transactions safely,” said Eri in a statement in Jakarta, on Friday.

The first precautionary measure, customers are required to maintain the confidentiality of personal data, including name, address, telephone number, and other sensitive information such as place and date of birth and mother’s maiden name.

Customers are advised not to provide unsolicited personal data to unauthorized parties. Ensure that the website or application they use has a clear privacy policy and maintain data confidentiality.

Second, before making a digital transaction, customers are encouraged to verify product information, including price, quality, and warranty. Furthermore, check the seller’s reputation and other consumer reviews. Ensure the website or application they use is trustworthy and secure.

Businesses are also required to verify payments, especially given the rise in fraudulent transactions involving fake transfer receipts. Ensure funds are actually received before completing a transaction.

Third, consumers are advised to document all digital transactions, including proof of payment, conversations, and other supporting data.

Furthermore, businesses are also required to keep transaction records to prevent irresponsible consumers, such as those who request refunds after receiving the goods.

Fourth, consumers and businesses are advised to avoid using public W-Fi when conducting digital transactions due to the lack of security.

Public Wi-Fi is vulnerable to being exploited by malicious parties to steal personal data and hack financial accounts. Use private network to prevent this risk.

Fifth, the final step, is to immediately report any notifications of unauthorized transactions to your company or service provider.

Don’t click on suspicious links from SMS, WhatsApp, or emails, even if they appear to be from a company. Verify information through the official call center for prompt action.

BNC itself provides various information channels and guides related to digital security, accessible through its official website, official social media accounts, neobanks, and mobile banking apps.

Customers are expected to utilize the various information available on the various channels provided by BNC to increase their understanding and awareness of the various risks that can occur in digital transactions, and how to avoid them.
